If you buy your own health insurance, one date range belongs on your calendar every year. Miss it, and you're generally stuck waiting until next year unless a special enrollment period applies. Here's what's changing for 2027.
The 2027 Open Enrollment Window
For Florida and most states, open enrollment for 2027 coverage runs November 1, 2026 through January 15, 2027, via HealthCare.gov. Want coverage starting January 1, 2027 with no gap? Enroll by December 15, 2026 โ enroll after that and your plan won't start until February 1.
What Changed This Year: The Enhanced Subsidies Expired
The enhanced premium tax credits that made Marketplace plans more affordable expired January 1, 2026. Subsidy rules are reverting closer to the pre-2021 structure, including the return of the "subsidy cliff" above roughly 400% of the federal poverty level. If you got a tax credit the last couple of years, your 2027 premium could look different โ even in the same plan. Worth checking before you auto-renew.
Running the actual numbers against your income and household size is a lot easier with someone who does this every day than by guessing.
